Session Abstract

The primary goals of this seminar are to provide a detailed introduction into Illinois state requirements pertaining to insurance for licensees, discuss different insurance products available to cannabis businesses, and to examine different claims and loss experiences across the country.

Since states are responsible for executing state cannabis laws, every state requires different insurance products and limits as part of the licensing process. Some states have very little requirements while others have very strict expectations of businesses in order to obtain their license. We will discuss the Illinois insurance expectations in detail and what is expected of cannabis operators.

With insurance products available ranging from general liability, product liability, property coverage including crop and finished stock coverage, workers compensation, commercial auto, directors and officers and more, we will discuss the different options available to operators and how these products can play an important role in the overall business planning process.

Finally, we will discuss real claims and losses insurance carriers are experiencing across the country. This discussion will help educate potential operators on risks they may face as they open their businesses.
